Question by PatriciaWOWW: What would a 50$ Gold Buffalo Tribute Proof be worth in 10 or 20 years?
Is it worth to buy a few? Seems like it may be worth it long term. But in 2010, this coin is really worth 1$. Doing the math - The weight of one coin is 31mgs. 1 ounce = 28349mgs. So this means that one coin is 1/1000th of an ounce. If Gold is 1000$ per Ounce. Is my math right?
Best answer:
Answer by sassy25 Depends on the price of goal at the time. If you buy now when gold is high you could lose big in 10 yrs. You would have to time the commodities market.

Question by goldmoderncoins: I purchased several 2007 W Buffalo Coins - How long until I can break even selling them?
I purchased eight 2007 W Gold Buffalo Proof Coins @ the issue price of 5 each. Each coin was graded PF69 DCAM by PCGS (First Strikes). I can't believe I didn't get a single PF70...what good luck I noticed on eBay that the PF69 (even the first strikes) are only selling for 9 - 9 each right now - Does anyone know what my best bet is, to sell them at a loss now & reinvest the money or hold them? Also, how long should I hold the coins? Any idea how long until these coins might shoot up above 5 per coin on the auction block? (I noticed several local dealers already have their coins priced at 0 or 0). Thanks in advance for any advice.

Question by T C: 2010 Gold Buffalo tribute proof?
There is an ad running on TV by National Collectors advertising the 2010 Gold Buffalo tribute proof. It is a .9999 24 kt gold plated bronze piece. It is 31mgs of 24 kt gold over a bronze coin. It appears to be replica of an authentic 24 kt gold US Mint coin previously offered by the US Mint. The purchase price is .95 plus S&H.Are there any coin collectors out there that know the skinny on this deal. Is it a scam as it appears?
Best answer:
Answer by rtfm I have a small collection of old coins. In my experience, anything that's "gold plated" is just a gimmick and doesn't appreciate in value.

Question by YA! YA!: What the actual value of the American Buffalo Gold coin? Since its not solid gold?
Best answer:
Answer by I. B. Zoxx Where are you getting your information? The American Buffalo gold coin sold by the US Mint is indeed .9999 pure gold.
American Buffalo Gold Bullion Coins are the first .9999 fine 24-karat gold coins ever struck by the United States Mint and offered for sale through a network of Authorized Purchasers. These gold coins are available to members of the public seeking a simple and tangible means to own and invest in 24-karat gold in the form of legal tender coins whose content and purity is guaranteed by the United States Government.
American Buffalo One Ounce Gold Proof Coins are collector versions of the official United States Mint American Buffalo Gold Bullion Coins. Each coin contains one ounce of .9999 fine, 24-karat gold and is presented in an elegant hardwood box with a matte finish and a faux leather inset, and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the Director of the United States Mint.
As far as value goes: most dealers will buy them for around 95% of spot and sell them for around 105% of spot.

Best answer:
Answer by verique_phinigel I see it as black myself, but when doing something of this nature, it would always be best to save the image as a PNG and then set the background as transparent. This way your web color will always come through.
